June 24-26: The Supervisors and Leadership Training Series in Portland, Oregon

This is an intensive three-day supervision and leadership workshop geared to help progressive non-profit organizations and unions by developing the capacity to continually improve the skills of staff supervisors.

“I use the tools I learned in the Enlace training to think together with the people I supervise; so I now don’t feel the need to think for them – or think with others and then bring it to them. Using Enlace tools, I also look to the underlying motivations for staff doing the work, which–surprise!–helps in developing realistic strategies and work plans that actually get carried out.”
– Lorene Scheer, Field Coordinator, SEIU Local 503

The curriculum includes: how to hold a successful one-on-one meeting, how to provide corrective feedback, how to facilitate an effective team meeting, and how to manage conflict in your organization. Learning to use these processes will help both new and experienced supervisors become better at motivating staff, improving staff capabilities, ensuring accountability, avoiding unpleasant surprises, and keeping the team focused on its objectives.

The goal of these workshops is to give each participant training and practical experience with skills and techniques tailored to her/his own work as a supervisor of staff. Each participant will be interviewed prior to the training, so that the training content will reflect the dilemmas and issues that organizations and their staff leaders are experiencing. Participants will have the opportunity to share ideas and experiences. The training also includes a one-hour follow-up consultation with an Enlace staff trainer.

The cost of the training is $375 for non-affiliates of Enlace and $300 for Enlace affiliates. Lunch and materials will be provided. Click here for the registration form. Copy and paste it in an email to by June 6.

July 14-15: Team Leaders Series Training in Los Angeles

This training is geared to help progressive non-profit organizations and unions by developing the capacity to continually improve the skills of member leaders, staff supervisors, and organizers.

The curriculum will include: how to facilitate a proactive planning process and how to effectively evaluate an event, action, or program in order to better prepare for the next stage of your work.

"I highly recommend the Enlace Training 'Planning and Evaluation of Programs.' This training helps you identify where the struggle is in your work plan and then it helps you figure out what (your goal, your approach, your calendar) needs to change to make your plan healthy, workable, and in service to your mission. The instructors are excellent at tailoring their process for different types of organizations and people. I keep returning to the ideas I developed in this training as I make decisions about where to put resources." --Anne Pernick, Coordinator of the Business Ethics Network (BEN)

The proactive planning process focuses on:
• In-depth planning of programs or activities that ensures nothing falls through the cracks
• Identifying internal and/or structural changes that are necessary to make in order for the program to be successful
• Accessing the energy that moves people and focusing it into the desired direction of the organization
• Evaluating the plan to make sure that it is realistic and will function effectively
